There is an aliveness in you.

guarded like something that might be judged,
when really it is simply part of being wholly alive.

Sometimes this hiding is older than this life.
Your soul remembers times when this natural aliveness
was tangled with shame, or danger, or punishment.
And sometimes it moves down the family line,
generations who learned to be ashamed of the body,
arriving in you now,
ready at last to be gently released.
